Inbox / chat for Partners and Sellers

Utilize the inbox to negotiate deals with various Partners and Sellers! By default, we'll send a notification email to let recipients know they have messages waiting for them. You can toggle this on/off via the "Chat" field in Notification Settings.

πŸ’‘ The inbox can only be used to message users that are already on Builtfirst.

Sending Messages

Click the "+" next to your company name to search for existing contacts. If you don't already have an ongoing chat with another user, they won't appear as a contact.

πŸ’‘ Partners: To find contacts to message, search for their company name in the Catalog (previously Seller Library). Locating contacts here is covered in the Eligible Seller section of Navigating the Catalog.

Archiving Messages


Clicking the red trashcan in the corner of a message will move it to your Archive folder. This does not archive the chat for the other participant.


Visit the message in the Archive folder to un-archive it. This will automatically return the thread to your Active folder.

FAQ

Q: How many users can join a chat?
A: Only 2 participants (you + the recipient) can be in a chat at once.

​Q: Who's notified when I send a message?
A: If the recipient has inbox notifications on, they'll get an email when you message them. No one else on their team is notified or can see messages between you and the recipient.

Q: Can I transfer a message to my teammate?
A: Unfortunately, transferring chats is not possible. If you receive a message best handled by another teammate, please direct the sender to message them instead. Alternatively, you can move the conversation elsewhere.

​Q: How do I permanently delete a message/thread?
A: Messages can't be deleted, only archived!
