How to embed your Builtfirst marketplace / community into your own website

Updated over a week ago

Clickpath: Marketplaces > Go to Marketplace > Settings > Embed

For Partners that prefer to show their community to Buyers via their own website/Notion/third party site, embedding is a great option. This allows you to show Builtfirst pages to users without them having to navigate to your marketplace's subdomain.

Embed still requires users to log in with Builtfirst credentials. To explore other options, check out Auto Sign In and Single Sign On (SSO).

Setting Up the Embed

  1. In whatever webhost you use, create a new page.

    1. We recommend creating a page with the following template: https://yourpartner_name.com/marketplace

  2. Log into your Partner account at manage.builtfirst.com.

Navigate to your marketplace's settings page (Marketplaces > Go to Marketplace > Settings > Embed).

On the Embed page, enter the url that your Buyers should be navigating to.

  3. Follow the rest of the prompts on the Embed page. Then, copy + paste your embed link onto your website page.

🚨 If you change your community's subdomain, this will automatically update your embed code. Remember to save your updated code if you make changes!

Embedding in Notion?

Notion does not support pasting html codes, so you will not paste the iframe code.

Instead, use "/embed" command and paste your marketplace's subdomain url when prompted.

Change the width and height of the code to just surpass the width of your Notion page for a seamless embed.

Below is an example of what the Buyer sees depending on community configuration prior to signing in the first time.

After a Buyer signs in once, they won't need to again!

Note: If you have "force jwt" enabled in your marketplace settings, the login/sign up page will not appear as shown above.

Troubleshooting

Buyer Error Messages

The embed requires access to Buyers' saved Builtfirst login data to load. If Buyers report seeing an error message:

  • Ensure they are not in an incognito/private browsing window.

  • Confirm that cookies are enabled in their browser. More information on cookies can be referenced in Allowing Cookies in Your Web Browser.

Setup Error Messages

Not all websites support pasting html codes in their editors. If you receive an error stating that the iframe code isn't working, embed your marketplace url instead (seen in the Notion section of this guide).
