Who's In My Marketplace?: Marketplace Visibility and Buyer Policies

Control who can see, use, and join your marketplace/community

Updated over a week ago

In Builtfirst, marketplace owners/admins decide who can view discounts and join their marketplace at any time. This is controlled via Marketplace Settings and the Buyers page and can be updated at any time.

Marketplace Settings

Clickpath: Marketplaces > Go to Marketplace > Settings

Marketplace Visibility

Marketplace visibility determines whether someone must create a Builtfirst account to see any discounts. Note that visibility only refers to what users can see - there's a separate setting to determine whether these same users can click buttons to redeem/request quotes from vendors.

Open - Login or sign up isn't necessary to see products, deals, or integrations

Closed - Login or sign up is necessary to see products, deals, or integrations

Customer Accounts

Customer accounts determines whether someone must create a Builtfirst account before they can try to redeem discounts or request quotes from vendors. This option is disabled if your marketplace has closed visibility.

Accounts Required - Customers will need an email and password to redeem

No Accounts Needed - Customers will only need a verified email to redeem

Why are emails required even when selecting No Accounts Needed?:
Emails are used to tie users to your analytics so you can see who is redeeming discounts and when. If a discount requires personal followup from the vendor to apply it, they'll reach out to the email address entered when users request the deal.

Buyer Policies

Clickpath: Buyers > policy button

Your marketplace's buyer policy controls what permissions are needed (if any) for someone new to join your marketplace.

Auto-Approval for Whitelisted Only

Sets permissions based on the whitelisted organizations.
โ€‹

Whitelisted organizations are companies/users that you pre-approve for access to your marketplace and appear in the Add Buyers tab of the Buyers page.

When you invite someone via +Add Buyer or +Bulk Upload, they are whitelisted. These users will gain access after verifying an account using the email address you issued to invitation to.

All Must Request

Sets permissions that allows buyers to request to join your community.
โ€‹
Anyone that creates login credentials for your marketplace must be approved by your team before they will be granted access. Users pending your approval are in the Manage Requests tab of the Buyers page. This policy overrides whitelisting.

Open to All

Sets permissions that allows all buyers to join your community.

Anyone that creates login credentials for your marketplace are automatically granted access to discount information and redemption/quote buttons.

The sharable link overrides all buyer policies. Exercise caution when distributing your sharable link - anyone that has it will have access to your marketplace.
