How to use deal restrictions

Updated over a year ago

Don't want every single company to qualify for your offer? Understandable!

You might only want new customers able to get a discount on your product/service. Or maybe you only work with certain countries or types of companies.

Fields

  • New Customer Restriction: Always be sure to specify whether existing customers qualify for your deal or only new customers.

  • Special Restrictions: Where we recommend typing the highlights of your restriction. If you have additional restrictions you can mention they can find more details on your website.

  • Other Restrictions: Selecting the radio button "Yes other restrictions apply" opens additional, advanced fields that we don't quite recommend using yet. Why? Because not all of our startups fill out the information on those fields, hiding your offer from otherwise qualified startups.

    • Do buyers need to be authenticated to see deals: This allows you to hide your offer from the general public. If you would rather the details of your offer be hidden from a public website & non-indexable, select "Yes, I don't want non-authenticated buyers to see the deal details".

Restriction Examples

  • You don't want existing customers redeeming your deal: Select "Only new customers can qualify for this deal." in the "New Customer Restriction" section

  • You only work with US-based companies: Type "Only US-based companies qualify" in the Special Restrictions field

    • Note: You can select "United States" as a required country of incorporation in the "Other Restrictions" section. However, we don't recommend doing so as startups must fill this out. Not all startups do, resulting in your offer being hidden from many startups that would otherwise qualify.

  • You have variable discounts based on the startup's stage or team size: Be sure to specify an "Up To" savings amount on your offer, and type in the restrictions "Discount amount varies based on startup stage. See our website for more details."
