How Do I Redeem a Deal?

Guide for founders / buyers looking to claim discounts

Updated over a week ago

Although some deals are visible directly on builtfirst.com, some discounts can only be accessed after creating a Builtfirst account and logging in. Many vendors offer discounts that are exclusively claimed by visiting a marketplace; logging into the vendor's website may not grant you the same deals or prompt you for promo codes that would otherwise not be required.

Types of Redemptions

Each vendor selects 1 of 2 methods to redeem discounts: email or a separate landing page. Note that discounts are never applied automatically via Builtfirst - there are always steps required by the vendor to claim your offer.

Email Redemptions

Email redemptions will feature a button that reads (or is similar to) "Send Email to [Vendor Name]". Clicking this sends a notification to the vendor so they can follow up with you via email.

Landing Page Redemptions

Landing page redemptions feature a button that reads (or is similar to) "Claim with [Vendor Name]". Clicking this opens another tab for you to finish the redemption process on the vendor's site.

Redemption Process

Clicking on an offer in any marketplace will open the deal activation page. Take note of the Redemption Instructions and Special Restrictions sections.

Redemption Instructions

Each vendor controls their own process, so it's important to review their instructions to access their deals. The Builtfirst team does not have access to vendors' records or systems to apply discounts on your behalf.

This section may include timelines for when you can expect to hear back from the vendor. If there is no specific timeline, please allow at least 3 business days from the date of your application to receive confirmation or followup that your discount request has been processed.

If you don't hear back from vendors after 3 business days or the end of their specified timeline, reach out to BuiltFirst Support at support@builtfirst.com for next steps.

Special Restrictions

Some deals are only available if you meet specific criteria. These criteria may include, for example, country of incorporation, number of employees, or total funding amount. Restrictions are also set by the vendor, so be sure to review this information to double-check your eligibility.

FAQ

Q: Can Builtfirst apply my discount for me?
A: Discounts are handled by vendors directly. Since Builtfirst can't access vendors' systems, we don't have the tools or visibility to manage your account on their end.

Q: I'm a Partner (marketplace owner). Can I redeem offers on behalf of my Buyers (customers/founders/portcos)?

A: No. Vendors review and apply discounts per individual company. As a result, the Buyer must be the party to redeem any offers.

Q: How long will it take to get my discount?
A: The answer is different for reach deal, so be sure to review instructions provided by the vendor. Some require that you complete an application for them to process, while others will ask you to wait to receive an email from the vendor directly.

*If the instructions or application page on the vendor's website do not specify a timeline, the default is 3 business days. Keep in mind that this may be extended an extra day or so depending on the vendor's time zone and local holidays.

Q: I want to redeem a deal, but am not sure if I meet the vendor's requirements. What should I do?

A: Use your best judgement, though there's no harm in applying for a discount anyway. While some vendors may reject your request/application, they may also offer a different discount to your organization as an alternative. If they allow appeals, the vendor typically communicates that in their rejection notices as well.

Q: What should I do if I'm having trouble redeeming a discount?

A: Reach out to Builtfirst at support@builtfirst.com if a redemption link takes you to a inactive page or displays an error. We'll contact the vendor for updated instructions.

If a vendor states that the discount is no longer active, please let us know. Often, this is a miscommunication on the vendor's end and we can work with them to confirm next steps. Builtfirst doesn't have direct contacts for every vendor listed, but we'll do everything possible to get you to the right person to help!
