How to Create & Edit a Deal

For sellers offering discounts

Updated over a week ago

As a Seller, you can create Deals for your products/services for Buyers (i.e. founders) to redeem. We use the terms Deal, Discount & Offer interchangeably.

Create a Deal

To get started, log in at manage.builtfirst.com and navigate to Sell Your Products > Manage Deals and click "Create Deal".

❓ Not seeing the "Create New Deal" button above? You'll need to create a listing first to tell us about your product.

Once you fill out the fields on the creation page and click "Create Deal" at the bottom, you'll be prompted to review details before saving and making your deal live.

Create & Edit Deal Fields

Deal Title (Required) - what buyers see when browsing (e.g. "2 Months Free")

Deal Description (Required) - Blurb explaining the details of how the deal will help their business (ex: "Get 2 free months of consulting on ACME's Pro Plan & access our community of roadrunners!")

Average Total Savings (Optional, but Recommended) - An "Exact" or "Up To" amount that buyers save by redeeming the deal. Helps your offer stand out by defining concrete monetary savings.

Deal Segmentation (Required) - Which Partners can add your deal to their community. The options in this list depend on who you've selected in the Target Audience field in your listing.

Landing Page or Email (Required) - Toggle between how buyers redeem the deal.

  • Landing page: Allows buyers to click through to the page you specified, which can be a generic landing page with an application form to apply for the discount or book a demo

  • Email: Sends an email to the address specified and includes the buyer's name, email address, and offer they're interested in so you can reply with more information

Special Instructions (Optional) - Instructions buyers should follow to redeem your deal (e.g. "Click 'Apply for Startup Program' and enter partner code '12345'")

💡 Highly Recommended - if your deal requires an application, include an estimate for when you will follow up with the buyer.

New Customer Restriction (Required) - Select whether current customers can redeem the deal

Special Restrictions (Optional) - Restrictions or terms applied to the deal (ex: "Only for existing customers currently on our Free plan")

Other Restrictions (Optional) - Select "Yes, Company-based restrictions for the deal (e.g. only for companies founded in 2020, incorporated in Uruguay, etc.)

🚨 We recommend selecting "No, no other restrictions apply" in most cases. If you select "Yes, other restrictions apply", you'll be able to add restrictions based on company details that only some buyers fill out. Any restrictions here will hide your deal from any buyer that hasn't completed their demographic information.

For a broader reach, utilize the Special Restrictions text field instead.
